Why Choose Mangroves
Natural Filter
The roots of Mangrove Plants love absorbing excess nutrients like nitrates and phosphates directly from your tank's water, helping to reduce algae while improving overall water clarity.
Their roots act like a living filter, making them a powerful, organic and chemical-free solution for maintaining a healthy, balanced aquarium ecosystem.

Fully Mature Trees
Two beautiful 28" and 29" red mangrove trees. Arrived very healthy, and very quick with the new UPS shipping (Hawaii to East Coast only took about a week). Extremely well-packaged to ensure safe delivery. Trees had plenty of water and grew lots of new roots during transit. All branches and leaves intact.
Owners undoubtedly care about the plants. The same can certainly be said of their customer service. They've responded and chatted with me non-stop for the last month+ (well before purchasing, during shipping, and well after the trees were delivered).
Always willing to answer ANY question with professionalism and dedication to customer education. Owners also talked and collaborated with me at length about my vision for a tropical freshwater mangrove fish tank. Thank you so much for everything!

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these Freshwater or Saltwater Plants?
Mangrove plants will thrive in BOTH Freshwater AND Saltwater Aquariums!
We grow them hydroponically in clean, freshwater with zero chemicals but you can easily acclimate them to saltwater or brackish tanks.
They are an organic water filter that will also provide a natural shelter for your fish and shrimp within their roots.
Will my plants survive shipping?
Of the thousands of plants that we have shipped out to all 50 US States, less than 1% of plants have died and it is always due to customers leaving their delivered package outside in the hot sun or in the freezing cold.
If you do not pick up your plants upon delivery and they are left outside, they will in fact die.
As long as you take the package inside a room-temperature environment and place them in a small bucket of clean, freshwater, they will do perfectly fine.
If your plants do arrive dead, simply email us at help@savemangroves.com with clear photos of the dead plants within 48 hours of delivery. The photos must be taken within 3 hours of the timestamped delivery on the provided tracking number. We'll review and send you replacement plants ASAP!
When will I get my plants?
Your plants will be carefully packaged and shipped your plants within 2-3 business days after placing your order.
You should receive your plants 3-5 business days after it gets shipped either through USPS or UPS.
Do I have to have a PayPal account?
You do NOT need a PayPal account to make a purchase. Simply follow the steps below and to pay using your debit or credit card.
- Enter the email address you want your receipt and tracking number sent to.
- Click on "Pay with Debit or Credit Card".
- Enter your card information and you're all set!
You'll receive a receipt to your email address and within the next 3-5 business days, you'll get another email with your USPS or UPS tracking number.
Why did my plants not come with leaves?
We offer a variety of different plant sizes and how old they are. The older the plant is, the more leaves and developed root system it will have.
Each listing contains a detailed description of exactly what you will receive before you make your purchase.
For Example: If you ordered the 7"-11" mangrove plants with roots but no leaves, your plants are just starting their life-cycle and won't sprout their first set of leaves for at least a month or so.
Here's a quick list of the plant bundles that we sell:
- • 7”-11” Red Mangroves (With Roots, No Leaves)
- • 9”-14” Red Mangroves (With Roots, No Leaves)
- • 10”-14” Red Mangroves (With Roots & 2-4 Leaves)

How do I acclimate my plants to saltwater?
Upon delivery, immediately take package to a room-temperature indoor environment. Do not leave it outside in the hot sun or freezing cold or the plant(s) will possibly die. Open the package and do NOT cut too deep or you may slice the plant(s). Gently and carefully remove the insulation packaging.
Immediately place the root-side of the plant in a small, clean bucket of clean room-temperature freshwater. Be sure to keep the water level to about 1"-2" above the highest root, and keep the plants upright. NEVER completely submerge the plant(s).
✅ FOR FRESHWATER TANKS:
If you are placing these plant(s) in a freshwater environment, you can transfer the plants to your aquarium or pond when you are ready and you're all set!
✅ FOR SALTWATER TANKS:
If you are placing these plant(s) in a saltwater tank, leave the plant(s) in the room temperature freshwater bucket for about 3 days so that the plant(s) can re-hydrate and acclimate to its new environment.
Starting on the 3rd day you can slowly take out 20% of the freshwater and replace with your aquarium's saltwater daily. Do this for the next 4 days and on the 5th day, you can add your new plant(s) to your saltwater aquarium where they will thrive!
If you accidentally break off any large roots (small hair-like roots are not a concern), restart the freshwater to saltwater acclimation process from day one then add the plant(s) on the 5th day.
Will my plants survive in my aquarium?
Red Mangrove Plants are very hardy, but you should still acclimate them to your specific water conditions.
In the question above, we go over exactly how to acclimate your plants once they arrive.
We have also taken the time to create a very in-depth care guide to answer all of your questions which includes a checklist so that you are prepared to receive your plants before you even place your order.

How do I secure my plants in my aquarium?
This is a great question and it really depends on how big of a plant you order and how you plan on setting up your tank.
The main thing you need to know is that the top half of the plant needs to be kept above water for the plant to be able to breathe. You really only want to submerge about 2 inches above the top of the highest root.
For our smaller plants that are under 18", we sell Mangrove Plant Holders.
They are super easy to install and allow you to move each mangrove plant separately within your tank.
Click here to see how they work.
Keep in mind that we do have between 2 feet and all the way up to 3 feet in height. For these larger plants, depending on your tank set up, you could simply add them directly to your substrate, while still allowing the top half of the plant to be able to breathe air above water.
Another option would be to stack rocks inside of your tank until it is near the surface of the water, then gently wedge the plant between the highest rocks.
